New York State Assembly Republican Leader Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) today commented on democratic-socialist victories in legislative and congressional primaries, warning that their radical agenda and growing presence in the Democratic party will deepen the state’s fiscal crisis and future prosperity.

“New York’s Democratic party is headed in one clear direction—the extreme left. After last night’s primaries it appears socialists are no longer merely a ‘wing’ of the party, they’re taking over the entire house,” Leader Ra said. “Their vision for New York is built on higher taxes, defunding police, ending capitalism, expanding government control and erasing public safety policies. It is a recipe for disaster and a direct threat to the future of our state.”

Leader Ra emphasized that these victories, concentrated in safe Democratic districts, will burden working families, small businesses and upstate and suburban communities with more debt, regulations and job-killing policies.

“We have seen this failed experiment play out in cities across the country. It leads to population loss, business flight and declining quality of life. As Democrats welcome more radical socialists into their party, Republicans will continue fighting for hardworking New Yorkers and common-sense priorities of tax relief, safer streets, lower costs, and economic growth,” Leader Ra said.
