ASSEMBLYMAN ED RA PRESENTS CAPITOL-FLOWN FLAGS TO LOCAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

In celebration of Flag Day, Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square) presented four American flags, each flown over the New York State Capitol, to local elementary schools in the New Hyde Park-Garden City Park School District.

      Yesterday, Ra attended Manor Oaks School’s Flag Day assembly, where students learned about the symbolism of the American flag, the meaning behind its colors and stars and proper flag etiquette. Flags were also presented to Garden City Park School, Hillside Grade School and New Hyde Park Road School.

      “One of my favorite times of year is getting to talk with students about the meaning behind our flag,” said Ra. “Flag Day helps us remember and appreciate the values and ideals that unite us as Americans. Understanding the history and symbolism of our flag inspires pride, gratitude and civic responsibility in the next generation. Thank you to all the students for their participation and to each of the schools for the warm welcome.”
